Bon Mano Bon is a Vancouver owned and operated company. Everyday, we derive great joy in hand making healthy and high-quality desserts and treats using fresh and natural ingredients. Our handmade goodies are a great pantry staple, while also making wonderful, personal gifts for loved ones. We’re also passionate about working with and supporting local farmers and businesses to help keep our local economy strong and enrich the whole community.
I used to spend a lot of time with my best friend Neil Blair back in junior high school. Every afternoon, we would walk home together from school to his place. Being a retired Spanish baker and a homemaker to four kids, Neil’s mother, Mrs. Blair always baked wonderful treats for us while we did our homework. I was amazed to see her use nothing but egg, flour, butter, sugar and fresh fruit to make her desserts. Just like magic, she created all those wonderful delicacies from scratch by hand, and always had a big smile on her face while doing so. :Bon Bon” means “little treats,” and “Mano” means “by hand” in Spanish. When the time came for me to start my own venture, it felt only natural to use the name “Bon Mano Bon” - handmade treats - in memory of Mrs. Blair and those wonderful treats we so enjoyed.
The idea for my little company came to life many years ago at an informal dinner tea party I hosted for a group of close friends. I had planned and prepared dinner and, as was customary, an array of desserts. It was while chatting over the desserts and coffee that my friend urged me to create a business out of my knack for baking The vision for creating company for busy people on a budged was born. I decided to focus my attention on vegan and gluten-free desserts, as I had many years of formal training in the field and had gained valuable skills from working in the hotel, bakery shops and teaching in public schools around the world.
Friends and family have loved to taste all the varieties of nuts, chocolates, cookies, candies, cakes and tarts that I have laboured over. For my part, I have truly loved the hands-on process of preparation as well as all kinds of dessert making. From washing to cutting, and from mixing to baking, every moment of preparation is filled with passion and love. It has always been the big warm smile that appeared on people’s faces after that first bite that has inspired me to search for the freshest ingredients and craft new creations.
I proudly bring you Bon Mano Bon, where we make handmade treats for all of your craving needs!
Sincerely,
Jason
